Vocabulary

* Alopecia: Loss of hair from the head or body. Relaxers, tight hairstyles and hair straighteners can induce chronic hair lose. Alopecia can also be caused by underlying medical conditions.

*Big Chop: Cutting hair very short and getting rid of all the relaxed end of the hair strands

*Carrier Oils: Also known as based oils and vegetable oils are commonly used to dilute essential oils before they are applied on the skin. They "carry" the essential oil onto the skin. They are also good at sealing moisture (water) into damp hair. They derived from the fatty portion of the plant, usually the seeds, kernels or the nuts

*Co-Wash: Co-washing is a method of cleansing your hair and scalp with a conditioner instead of a shampoo. It is recommended to co-wash your hair at least once a week, between shampoos.

*Essential Oils: Also called volatile oils or ethereal oils, they are distilled from the raw plant materials such as leaves, roots, wood, bark, flowers, seeds or peel. At the contrary to the carrier oils, essentials oils evaporate and have a strong aroma.

*Transitioning: Action of growing natural hair while keeping the relaxed end of the hair. Important Note: The part where the natural hair strand and the relaxed one meets is very fragile and this is where breakage usually occurs when transitioning.
